2024 ESPN Top 100 Prospects: 'Crats Duo Tops Another Ranking

The fourth of four Top 100 Prospects Lists was released this week as ESPN's Kiley McDaniel led off his rankings with Nashville Aristocrats combo Jackson Holliday and Jackson Chourio. The duo led a group of five 'Crats prospects ranked, including right-hander Jackson Jobe who saw his highest ranking of the four publications at 10th overall.

The Asti Grape Stompers Farm System was certainly a favorite of McDaniel as ten of GM Terry Shelley's prospects earned the nod, the highest mark in the RDBL. The next highest were the Alamo Short Stacks (7), Burlingame Blue Ducks (6) and Maltese Falcons (6).

Roman Anthony (23) ranked as the top overall prospect not currently on a RDBL Roster, put him firmly in the conversation for the Meinert Hops who own the top overall pick in March's Reserve Draft.

Rumor Central: Stacks Active on Trade Front

The Alamo Short Stacks are one of the main clubs to watch before Draft Day, due in large part to an overwhelming amount of draft assets that don't line up with an overflowing Farm System. The Stacks currently hold 16 prospects under contract, coupled with six selections in the Top 35. That has led many to believe that upgrades to the Active Roster could be on the way in short order for GM Greg Shelley.

Here are the latest rumblings on the Stacks:

• The Stacks were among the clubs on right-hander Kodai Senga (2/$12) according to sources before he was dealt to the St. Joseph Jokers. According to those familiar with talks, the Goutfish were seeking a similar package to the one they accepted from the Jokers with Stacks infield prospect Colson Montgomery (Minors) as a named discussed along with a 2024 draft selection. Montgomery was ranked 33rd in the RDBL Top 100, 15th by Baseball America, 11th by Baseball Prospectus and 9th by MLB Pipeline this off-season.

• The club has also had initial discussions with the Spokane Fightin' Fish on the availability of star Julio Rodriguez (2R/$3), who was reportedly a candidate to be moved based on an earlier report this off-season. The Stacks aggressively made slugging prospect Junior Caminero (Minors) available with a total package of 17 years of player control between prospects and draft picks, but the clubs don't appear close at the moment according to sources. The Stacks have not shown a willingness to discuss outfielder Evan Carter (Minors) according to a League Executive which appears to be a sticking point.

• The club has "exchanged names and ideas" on Mission Viejo Maulers left-hander Tarik Skubal (2/$1), though no deal appears imminent at this time according to sources.

• The Stacks appear engaged with the San Mateo Oppo Tacos on left-hander Justin Steele (2D/$5) who was dealt from the Stacks last June as well as infielder Marcus Semien (2/$37) as GM Erik Nielsen looks to potentially shed payroll. Among potential picks that could be moved, the Oppo Tacos appear to have interest in activation-ready shortstop Masyn Winn (Minors) according to sources.

Aristocrats Move Franchise to Nashville, Following

The Aristocrats announced their second move in Franchise History, making the move from Las Vegas to Nashville effective Friday as President of Baseball Operations Nick Holz embarks on a new business venture in Tennessee.

While the club will maintain their bold "A" logo that has been with the Franchise since 2013, it is now placed over a guitar pick for their move to the Music City.

Originally named the Danville Aristocrats, the Franchise made the move to Las Vegas officially in 2020. The Aristocrats enter 2024 ranked sixth in lifetime RDBL earnings with $2,025 with a pair of Division Titles, five cash finishes and the inaugural 2013 RDBL Championship.

Holz enters 2024 with the league's only three person Front Office, joined by Assistant GM's Nick Kusanovich and Russ Colburn.

The new look Nashville Aristocrats hold the 2nd and 3rd Overall Selections in the RDBL Reserve Draft while also holding two of the best prospects in baseball in Jackson Holliday and Jackson Chourio.
