Season Recap

In a season that marked the expansion from 12 to 15 Franchises, a near worst to first feat was the storyline of 2014 in the Roger Dorn Baseball League as the Cloverdale Clovers were crowned Champions after a dominant year. The Clovers and GM Chris Shelley leveraged a "Core Four" of activations Christian Yelich, Jose Fernandez, Masahiro Tanaka and Gerrit Cole to overwhelm the rest of the league. A mid-season deal with the Asti Grape Stompers to acquire Felix Hernandez and Mike Trout put the club over the top en route to a record breaking season.
Yelich would go on to earn 2014 Activation of the Year while Fernandez would earn the Pitcher of the Year Award, leading a pitching staff that would set the RDBL Record for most pitching points in a season.
The League added the Burlingame Blue Ducks, Honolulu Wave Riders and Lake Merced Goutfish to competition immediately in Expansion plans that were escalated much sooner than the Commissioner's League anticipated. The three new clubs held an Expansion Draft one week prior to Draft Day, selecting from dropped players from the original 12 franchises.
The Goutfish enjoyed the most first-season success, capturing the Peninsula Division Title while finished 2nd overall. The remarkable feat earned GM Ryan Atkinson the 2014 Executive of the Year Award, the only GM in League History through 2016 to earn the hardware despite not winning a title.
