Season Recap

The South Bay Fightin' Fish entered 2018 as the presumptive favorite as they entered the final year with their core under contract.  Despite the best roster on paper, GM Michael Tirabassi's club struggled out of the gate as their pitching staff failed to keep pace with their historic offense.  That opened the door for the San Mateo Short Stacks and Maltese Falcons to grab hold of the Regular Season race for the first 15 periods.  Knowing their window was closed after 2018, Tirabassi cleared the Farm System to acquire Justin Verlander, Kyle Hendricks and Charlie Morton to shore up their rotation.

Though they ultimately came up 114.5 points short in the Regular Season, the deal pushed the Fish back up the standings and entered the Playoffs much improved.  The Stacks, coming off their worst season in Franchise History, captured their first Regular Season Title while GM Greg Shelley would go on to win the Executive of the Year Award for their rebuild.

When the calendar flipped to the Playoffs, the Fish rose to another level that couldn't be matched by their RDBL competition.  Tirabassi's squad raced out to a lead they never squandered and ultimately topped the Stacks by almost 300 points while becoming the first team to lead the Playoffs in both hitting and pitching points.  The Fish secured their second RDBL Championship, becoming the first Franchise with two Titles in League History.

Despite missing the Playoffs, the Mission Viejo Maulers played an important role in the Fish Title as their top four scorers over the final five weeks were acquired from GM Chris Ferraro, led by Tommy Pham who won the Playoff MVP Award with a .383/.481/.710 slash line.
