WE'RE BACK! 2022 Season Officially Set for April 7th Opening Day

Major League Baseball and the Players Union officially signed off on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement Thursday that will put an end to the 99-day lockout and officially kick off the start of the 2022 season with April 7th set as Opening Day.

The Roger Dorn Baseball League Commissioner's Office was kept abreast of all developments throughout the process and is ready to kick off an action packed two weeks of coverage before Keeper Rosters are due on March 24th.

March 10th: Roger Dorn Baseball League Rosters are officially open and trade discussions and moves can commence. The full rosters can be found here.

March 24th: Keeper Rosters are due to the League Office by midnight. Typically rosters are due seven days before Draft Day. With the short schedule, the League Office has decreased that deadline to six days.

March 30th, 1pm PST: The 9th Annual Roger Dorn Baseball League Draft.

April 7th: MLB Opening Day

What's New Around the RDBL

Reserve Draft Rules: MLB Reserve Picks now hold a third year option at $15. In past seasons, MLB Reserve Draft Picks were limited to a 1FA/$5 and 2FA/$5 contract. The new terms will be 1RD/$5, 2RD/$5 and 3RD/$15.

Prospect Activation Date Pushed Back

The In-Season Activation date has historically taken place at the beginning of the 7th Period for prospects not activated on Opening Day. Beginning in 2022, the RDBL will push that in-season activation date back to the beginning of Period 9.

We will continue to maintain the "Fernando Tatis, Jr. Rule", allowing players promoted after Opening Day a 48 window to be activated by their RDBL General Manager.

Trades Frozen from Keeper Roster Deadline Until Completion of Period 1

Sparked by the Draft Day activity of the Mission Viejo Maulers in 2021, the league has added restrictions to trades from the annual Keeper Deadline (one week prior to Draft Day) through the conclusion of Period 1. In short, Franchises will be held to play with the team they drafted for the first period of the season and can then commence trades.
