2021 Baseball America Top 100 Prospects

Baseball America released its annual Top 100 Prospect List this week, a group that will involve more research for Roger Dorn Baseball League Front Offices after skipping last year's Reserve Draft. The list includes an eye-popping 51 RDBL Free Agents, a group led by outfielder Dylan Carlson who was the favorite to be the top selection at this time last year.

Carlson's performance in the big leagues last season figures to push him to St. Louis to open 2021 and into the Auction Draft, leaving shortstop CJ Abrams as the next highest ranked prospect expected to be available in the Reserve Draft.

The Cloverdale Clovers, two-time Farm System of the Year award winners, led the RDBL with six representatives led by stud catcher and 2019 1st Rounder Adley Rutschman. Their Farm System also includes five players (Jesus Luzardo, Alex Verdugo, Francisco Mejia, Alex Reyes and Justus Sheffield) who lost eligibility for the list.

The overall Top 100 was topped by Mt. Diablo Devils shortstop Wander Franco who sat in the same spot across all rankings a year ago. Franco figures to push his way to Tampa Bay at some point in 2021 with hopes of positioning himself for a 2022 activation.

The newly renamed Las Vegas Aristocrats were the only club not represented in the Top 100, though GM Nick Holz and Assistant GM Nick Kusanovich have plenty of assets remaining under Minor League deals. The club could active four players in 2021 led by Max Fried and Cavan Biggio while Gavin Lux and Carter Kieboom will look to play their way into everyday roles. Right-hander Cal Quantrill should also factor into this year's plans for the 'Crars.
