Deadline Deals: Maulers Active on Final Day of the 2021 Off-Season

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

With the clock ticking down on the Roger Dorn Baseball League Keeper Deadline, we will track all of the last minute deals here.

Aristocrats Acquire: RHP Zach Davies (2FA/$5), 1B/3B Colin Moran (2FA/$5)

Maulers Acquire: SS Paul DeJong (2/$1)

The Aristocrats boosted their Keeper List on Monday with the addition of Davies and Moran while freeing up some space in the middle infield that could lead to a series of potential activations for GM Nick Holz and Assistant GM Nick Kusanovich.

Davies will slot in behind Stephen Strasburg, Max Fried and Chris Bassit while Ryan Yarbrough remains in the mix for an official spot. With DeJong gone, the 'Crats have a number of options internally. Cavan Biggio projects to be activated with flexibility at second, third and the outfield while Gavin Lux serves as another potential option, though his playing time is less assured in Los Angeles. The addition of Moran could delay the activation of Carter Kieboom, though Moran could also slot over at first while leaving third for the young Nationals corner infielder.

The Maulers continue to strip back their roster and could head into Draft Day with just four Keepers for $4 as rumors continue to circle on right-hander Dylan Bundy.

Stacks Acquire: RHP Dylan Bundy (2FA/$5)

Maulers Acquire: 2021 4th Round Pick (49th Overall)

The Stacks and Maulers remained in contact following last week's deal for Jasson Dominguez and struck a deal Monday morning for right-hander Dylan Bundy. The Stacks Front Office was in attendance for Bundy's scoreless performance Sunday which led to the move. Just named the Opening Day starter for the Angels, Bundy posted career marks in 2020 with a 3.29 ERA, 27% strikeout rate and 6.4% walk rate while finish 9th in AL Cy Young voting.

The Maulers were confident they could move their starting pitching options this Winter and did just that with Bundy joining Taijuan Walker and Zach Davies on their way out of Mission Viejo. GM Chris Ferraro is pleased with the return for the trio, most notably acquiring Dominguez last week.

Ducks Acquire: 1B Miguel Sano (2FA/$5)

Fringe Acquire: 2021 6th Round Pick (87th Overall)

The Ducks were set to enter Draft Day without a corner infielder but were able to fill one slot with the acquisition of slugger Miguel Sano. The Fringe and Ducks lined up for a deal throughout the off-season as the glut of hitters available matched up with GM Ryan Walsh's needs.

The Fringe are expected to retain just three Minor Leaguers making the 6th Round pick a valuable one for the Franchise.

Maulers Acquire: 2021 2nd Round Pick (18th Overall)

Devils Acquire: 2021 2nd Round Pick (20th Overall) and 5th Round Pick (65th Overall)

Ducks Acquire: OF Gregory Polanco (2/$7), 2021 7th Round Pick (94th Overall)

Fightin' Fish Acquire: 2021 5th Round Pick (72nd Overall)

The Ducks have been chasing additional help on the offensive side of the ball and after adding Miguel Sano earlier in the day, GM Ryan Walsh utilized a minor pick swap to add outfielder Gregory Polanco. A former elite prospect, Polanco has gone through a series of injured seasons but remains an upside play for 2021 with control through 2022.
