The Deadline for submission of Roger Dorn Baseball League Keeper Rosters is today at midnight. We will be tracking the submissions live all day as clubs report in to the Commissioner's Office.
You can follow the submissions and review the full 2021 Draft Spreadsheet here.
Idaho Taters
Cap Space: $194 for 16 Players
Activations: C Carson Kelly, OF Austin Hays
GM Mike Friedrich stripped back the Taters roster and will enter Draft Day with 16 needs and $194 to spend. The club surprised many by holding back valuable catcher Sean Ryan Murphy who was projected to be activated. The move further weakens an already shallow group of Free Agent catchers. Friedrich is also taking a patient approach with 2014 Reserve draftee Brendan Rodgers who finally looks ready to shine for the Rockies in 2021. The club reportedly received late inquiries on Trevor Story but held a high asking price given the two years of control.
St. Joseph Jokers
Cap Space: $212 for 11 Players
Activations: IF Andres Gimenez, RHP Brady Singer, OF Nick Senzel
GM Rick Steen will activate three players for the first time in their Franchise History as Gimenez, Singer and Senzel stand out as three of their best assets. The club will bring back four starting pitchers in total with veterans Johnny Cueto and Jon Lester joined by Caleb Smith in the unit. Steen moved on from the pricey pair of Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton which freed up considerable cap space as the Jokers currently hold $212 in room.
Lake Merced Goutfish
Cap Space: $143 for 9 Players
Activations: SS Fernando Tatis, Jr., OF/1B Dom Smith
GM Ryan Atkinson submitted their much anticipated Keeper Roster with a variety of surprises, most notably sticking to the rumors and holding back Yordan Alvarez for activation. The club will enter Draft Day with a pair of relievers in lifetime Goutfish closer Edwin Diaz and upside play Tony Gonsolin who should get some opportunities to start in 2021. The Goutfish also held back on the activation of Sixto Sanchez who could be waiting in the wings for a Period 6 addition. The club figures to be in the mix at the top of the Free Agent pool and reportedly is more focused on offense than pitching with their strongest bids.
Cloverdale Clovers
Cap Space: $90 for 8 Players
Activations: C Chance Sisco, LHP Jesus Luzardo, OF Alex Verdugo
GM Chris Shelley put the final touches on a roster they hope will lead them to their second RDBL Championship in Franchise History. The club made a late switch in their plan at catcher, activing Chance Sisco while dropping Tom Murphy. A strong 2020 season locked in Eric Hosmer's spot at first base while Justin Turner's market never developed and resulted in his release. The club is rumored to be focused in investing much of their $90 cap space towards the top of their rotation with just one remaining opening in the group.
Lunatic Fringe
Cap Space: $147 for 8 Players
Activations: OF Ryan Mountcastle, RHP Lucas Giolito, RHP Sandy Alcantara
The Fringe faced some difficult choices down the stretch of the off-season, ultimately releasing outfielder Charlie Blackmon without an offer on the table for him from another club. What's left is a roster that stands just as tall as title favorites like the Cloverdale Clovers and Lake Merced Goutfish. GM Tony Guglielmi enters with his catcher spot solidified and only three needs on offense with the ability to pour much of his $147 into his three open rotation spots. The club will retain just three prospects leaving Guglielmi with 14 selections in the Reserve Draft.
Alamo Short Stacks
Cap Space: $169 for 13 Players
Activations: OF Kyle Tucker, 1B Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., LHP Julio Urias, OF Trent Grisham
The Stacks will enter Draft Day with just 10 Keepers, their shallowest group of Keepers in Franchise History. The club had hoped Amed Rosario, Nate Lowe and David Dahl would emerge in Spring Training, but each struggled enough to result in all three being cut on Monday. The club is optimistic about their rotation and young activations. The foursome of Yu Darvish, Julio Urias, Dylan Bundy and Frankie Montas are all healthy and throwing the ball very well in cap while the club's activations will serve as the core of their club for the next three seasons. The Stacks were reportedly deep in talks with the Maltese Falcons until this afternoon on Bryce Harper, but ultimately decided to hold onto their draft assets. Their 362.6 points per Keeper currently ranks second among the rosters who have been submitted.
Maltese Falcons
Cap Space: $176 for 16 Players
Activations: N/A
The Falcons have stripped back most of their roster for 2021 but have significant cap space to spend as they look to find assets in the Auction Draft that can help both in the present and future with hopes of a quick rebuild. GM Gary Falzon and Assistant GM Erik Nielsen held firm in their asking price for Bryce Harper with clubs reportedly looking to pair the outfielder with Hunter Dozier. With both expiring, along with Jason Heyward and Ryan Pressly, the Falcons hope all four can get out to hot starts while potentially serving as trade assets if the club falls out of contention. Forgive the rest of the RDBL for not counting out the Falcons who have proven to do more with less throughout their drafting history.
Las Vegas Aristocrats
Cap Space: $146 for 12 Players
Activations: IF/OF Cavan Biggio
The Aristocrats made a Deadline Day deal to acquire Zach Davies and Colin Moran, potentially shifting the club's thoughts on activations with GM Nick Holz and Assistant GM Nick Kusanovich choosing to keep Max Fried and Carter Kieboom in the Minors. In addition to that duo, Raimel Tapia was a surprising omission with the club likely feeling their core group is strong enough to remain in contention through five periods when the activation window re-opens for prospects. The club's 379.0 projected points per player ranked second among the teams who have reported.
Mission Viejo Maulers
Cap Space: $257 for 20 Players
Activations: N/A
The Maulers are set to take a page out of the book of the Spokane Fightin' Fish who held just five keepers entering the 2019 Draft. GM Chris Ferraro will take it a few steps further, retaining just three players for a combined $3 as they push a full reset button on their Active Roster. The club is viewing 2021 as a virtual gap year, holding off on the activation of Griffin Canning, Victor Robles and Willy Adames, the latter of which is now likely to cross 1,500 big league at-bats while still in a Minor League deal. The pressure is on Ferraro in Auction, just as it was for Tirabassi in 2019, with fellow teams expecting the club to dive in heavily on bounceback candidates.
Meinert Hops
Cap Space: $151 for 12 Players
Activations: OF Luis Robert, RHP Mitch Keller
After some minor off-season rumors, the Hops retained Mike Trout who sets the record for the highest Keeper contract in RDBL History at $71. GM Garrett Shelley patched up his pitching staff with activation Mitch Keller and late trade addition Taijuan Walker who bookend John Means, a fantasy-insider favorite. The Hops are among the clubs that could see some changes on Draft Day as AJ Puk and Andrew Vaughn continue to fight for Opening Day roles.
Asti Grape Stompers
Cap Space: $108 for 12 Players
Activations: 2B Keston Hiura
The Grapes made a pair of important additions this off-season in Yasmani Grandal and George Springer, giving their offense a boost to match a strong rotation led by the duo of Kershaw and Buehler. Shohei Ohtani will continue to be one of the more polarizing players to watch in 2021 as he enters the final year of his contract with the Grapes. If Ketal Marte can return to his 2019 form, the Grapes should be a big player in the East Bay Division this season.
Spokane Fightin' Fish
Cap Space: $111 for 11 Players
Activations: N/A
The Spokane Fightin' Fish have had quite the dramatic turnaround after entering the 2019 Draft with just five Keepers. The club has turned over much of their roster and is well positioned for a run at the Masters Title, their first year in the Division after the league's re-alignment. The Fish surprisingly held off on activating recently acquired third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes but a roster crunch at the position could be to blame with Yoan Moncada and Jose Ramirez already clogging up the spot. The club will bring back five starters and a pair of strong contact options in the middle infield that have flexibility all over the diamond in Tommy La Stella and David Fletcher.
Mt. Diablo Devils
Cap Space: $111 for 10 Players
Activations: 3B/1B Alec Bohm, OF Leody Taveras, SS Bo Bichette
The Devils are pushing their chips into the middle of the table for 2021, including a $68 dual-color-eyed Max Scherzer who will surprisingly anchor the rotation again while setting the record for the highest pitcher Keeper contract in RDBL History. The club will receive a big boost from a trio of activations to pair with arguably the league's top catcher unit which has GM Jason Watson focused on a return to the Playoffs. Deivi Garcia (Minors) could provide a Draft Day boost if he's named to the Yankees rotation over the next week.
Burlingame Blue Ducks
Cap Space: $132 for 11 Players
Activations: N/A
GM Ryan Walsh completed a pair of deals on Monday with Miguel Sano and Gregory Polanco giving a boost to the Ducks Keeper Roster which is buoyed by a pair of star shortstops in Xander Bogaerts and Gleybar Torres. The club is encouraged with the health of Mike Minor and Jake Odorizzi while hoping Dinelson Lamet's UCL can stay attached for six more months to give Walsh and the Ducks a chance to repeat.
Honolulu Hammerheads
Cap Space: $80 for 9 Players
Activations: OF Cristian Pache, RHP Ian Anderson, 3B Austin Riley
The Hammerheads resisted the urge to activate star prospect Alex Kirilloff, though clarity on his role over the next week could change that decision. GM Ross Horiuchi will look to Jacob deGrom to lead one of the strongest rotations in the RDBL which is backed up by the shortstop duo of Carlos Correa and Corey Seager at the plate. The development of a pair of Braves prospects could be the key for the Heads in 2021 as Austin Riley and Cristian Pache both step into key roles on Opening Day.
