On The Lookout: Historic Race for Wild Card Continues

Six days remain in the 2022 Roger Dorn Baseball League Regular Season with a wild finish looking likely after the Lake Merced Goutfish posted a league-high 87.0 points Monday to move from 7th to 5th in the Standings. The race for the two Wild Card spots is separated by just 15.0 points between the three clubs entering Tuesday.

Here's a look at how the club's are lined up in the starting rotation today:

Burlingame Ducks: Tony Gonsolin vs. MIL

Meinert Hops: Idle

Lake Merced Goutfish: Cease @ BAL

Cease Looks to Continue Hot Road Season

Goutfish ace Dylan Cease has posted a 1.34 ERA on the road with a 32.3% strikeout rate and will face the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday as GM Ryan Atkinson's club looks to continue their hot run. Cease enters the day ranked 9th in pitcher scoring this season with a 2.09 ERA overall and 178 strikeouts in 133 2/3 innings, helping the red-hot Goutfish post the league's top ERA (2.77) over the last 28 days.

Burnes, Rodon Look to Clinch Regular Season Title

The Maltese Falcons pushed the Alamo Short Stacks lead down to 120 Monday afternoon before Julio Urias push the lead back to 136.0 as he lowered his season ERA to 2.36 against the Brewers last night. The Stacks will look to put the lead out of reach Tuesday with Corbin Burnes (@LA) and Carlos Rodon (@DET) set for Tuesday starts. The Stacks are lined up well for the first week of the Playoffs with Burnes, Rodon, Urias and Jacob deGrom currently lined up for 2-start weeks next period.

Make or Break Day for Maulers

The Maulers trail the Spokane Fightin' Fish by just 55.5 points entering play Tuesday and will send Justin Verlander (vs. MIN), Corey Kluber (vs. LAA) and Aaron Civale (@ SD) to the mound in what feels like their last big chance to cement a lead over the two-time RDBL Champions. The Fish will be idle on the mound Tuesday and went just 4-for-33 at the plate Monday.
