10 Days remain in the Roger Dorn Baseball League Regular Season with races continuing to be white-hot up and down the standings. The Alamo Short Stacks enter Friday with a 170.0 point lead as they look to be the first Franchise in RDBL History to win the Regular Season twice.
Here's what we are on the lookout for on Friday:
Hops Looking to Chase Down Maulers, Fish
The Meinert Hops suddenly find themselves just 45.0 points behind the Mission Viejo Maulers and 54.5 points behind the Spokane Fightin' Fish with Shane McClanahan (vs. KC) and Cole Irvin (vs. SEA) scheduled Friday. The Fish do have five remaining starting pitchers set for action this weekend with the Maulers set for three remaining starts setting up a potential wave of changes in the standings over the next three days.
McClanahan has been a bit more mortal in recent weeks, posting just 9.0 combined points over his last three starts but still holds a 2.28 ERA on the year.
Fish, Maulers Separated by 10.0 Points
The Maulers badly want their first Division Title in Team History and will look to jump back over the Fightin' Fish on Friday with Tyler Anderson (vs.MIA) scheduled to start. The clubs are looking to secure a $200 3rd Place Bonus along with a $50 Division Title bonus in cash earnings.
Critical Starts for Bassitt, Snell
The Lake Merced Goutfish have 10 days to chase down the Burlingame Blue Ducks for the final Wild Card spot, currently trailing them by 98.0 points. They will hand the ball to Chris Bassitt (@PHI) and Blake Snell (vs.WSH) Friday with the Ducks countering with Aaron Nola (vs.NYM).
Snell has been one of the hottest pitchers in baseball with a 0.94 ERA and 0.91 WHIP over his last five starts.
Crats, Heads and Fringe Fight for 2nd Reserve Draft Position
The Las Vegas Aristocrats are currently positioned to select 2nd in the 2023 Reserve Draft but the Honolulu Hammerheads and Lunatic Fringe remain within 100 points with 10 days to go. The Heads would surrender their first and second round picks to the Spokane Fightin' Fish and Asti Grape Stompers, but position would still help in later rounds.
