On The Lookout: Hops Rebuild on Display

Hops Deadline Return

The Meinert Hops are set to finish in last place, but GM Garrett Shelley has plenty to be excited about entering 2022, mainly due to one arm they acquired at the deadline and one through Waivers.

Daniel Lynch stymied the Houston Astros for the second time in a week and has posted six consecutive positive starts with 104.0 points over that span. Lynch will look to continue his hot run on Saturday against the Mariners. The lefty owns a 2.30 ERA in 35 1/3 innings since the All-Star Break and looks ready to take on a mid-rotation spot for the Hops in 2022. Lynch was the key return for left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu from the Cloverdale Clovers.

While he wasn't a trade acquisition, the Hops also appear to have found a top of the rotation starter in Logan Webb. Webb owns the best ERA in baseball (1.63) since May 11th, with the Giants going 11-1 in his 12 starts where he has allowed 2 earned runs or less in each outing. Webb will oppose the Braves Saturday.

Montas for Stacks with 3rd Place on the Line

The Spokane Fightin' Fish sent their final two starters to the mound on Friday of the period, leaving the club just 27.5 points behind the Asti Grape Stompers and just 44.0 points ahead of the Alamo Short Stacks. The Stacks will need a big start from Frankie Montas who is facing a red-hot New York Yankees lineup.

Montas owns a 2.51 ERA in the 2nd Half and is fresh off a 36-point outing Sunday against the San Francisco Giants.

Grapes Make Final Pitching Stand for 2nd

The Grapes will send Marcus Stroman (vs. WSH) and Nestor Cortes (@ OAK) to the mound in their final two starts of the Regular Season. If both can produce positive starts, the Grapes are well-aligned to take home the East Bay Division Title for the first time after winning the Masters Division in 2019 before realignment.

Goutfish Putting Finishing Touches on Title

The Goutfish are two days away from claiming their first RDBL Regular Season Title and will look to add to their impressive resume with ace Lance Lynn on Saturday. The Goutfish moved into 4th place in Team Pitching Points in a Regular Season on Friday with 2,936.0 points. With a pair of strong days, the Goutfish could move into 2nd place all-time by passing the 2016 Fightin' Fish who posted 2,967.0 points.
