On The Lookout: Tuesday, 4/29

It's as light day on the MLB Schedule with plenty of morning action including an intriguing big league debut for the Meinert Hops.

Here's the latest On The Lookout.

Can Rodon Add to Trade Value?

Carlos Rodon has been a revelation in 2021, fulfilling his high ceiling that made him the third overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft and a 2013 selection by Adler's Man Crush while still at North Carolina State. Rodon owns a 0.47 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB through three starts (19 innings) as he heads into his outing against the Tigers on Thursday. With the Maulers in full rebuild mode, a continued hot streak from Rodon could make him one of the early candidates to be moved to a contender.

McClanahan 2021 Debut for Hops

The hard throwing lefty made his official MLB debut in the 2020 Playoffs but is set for his first big league start Thursday morning against the Athletics. His first inning has opened eyes across baseball as McClanahan is pumping in 100 mph fastballs and low 90s sliders with ease. A dominant outing could push the Hops for an activation next week when the window for prospect promotions re-opens.

Who Ends the Day in 1st?

The Short Stacks have a slim lead entering play Thursday and without a starter on the mound, another club is likely to take over the top spot by the end of the day. Five teams entered the day within 31.0 points of the overall lead with the 2nd place Spokane Fightin' Fish in the best position with ace Trevor Bauer on the mound.

Taters Continue to Surprise

The Idaho Taters surprisingly hold down the final Wild Card spot entering play Thursday in a season that was expected to be a rebuild. GM Mike Friedrich has Aaron Nola and Jordan Montgomery on the mound as they look to extend their lead over the chasing Las Vegas Aristocrats, Burlingame Blue Ducks and Lunatic Fringe for 6th overall.
