On The Lookout: Moving Day for Goutfish?

A light Monday schedule left little change in the Roger Dorn Baseball League standings but that will certainly not be the case on Tuesday with a full slate. The Alamo Short Stacks, Mission Viejo Maulers and Lake Merced Goutfish continue to pace their respective Divisions as Period 10 moves along with the conclusion of Period 11 marking the halfway point of the RDBL Regular Season.

Here's the latest On The Lookout for Tuesday, 6/7.

Kopech Looks to Shake Off Negative Start

The Cloverdale Clovers are in a funk on the mound, posting a 5.45 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over the last 14 days which includes Michael Kopech's first negative start of the season in Period 9 when he lasted just 3 innings against the Blue Jays for -18.0. The Clovers enter the day 47.0 points behind the Lunatic Fringe for the final Wild Card spot, and while they continue to monitor the trade market for pitching depth, Kopech will be tasked with getting back on track in his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Moving Day for Goutfish?

The Goutfish offense has been red hot recently, posting the third most hitting points in the RDBL over the last 21 days, slashing .261/.326/.419 over that span for 586.0 points. The pitching staff has been the issue though for GM Ryan Atkinson as the group has a 4.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over the same stretch, ranking 14th in pitcher scoring. Tuesday will be one to watch as the Goutfish send four starters to the mound with Graham Ashcraft (vs.AZ), Dakota Hudson (@TB), Jeffrey Springs (vs.STL) and Garrett Whitlock (@LAA) all set for their outings. The Goutfish enter Tuesday in 4th place, 25.0 points behind the Spokane Fightin' Fish for 3rd.

Gray Looks to Increase Trade Value

The St. Joseph Jokers are fully open for business as club's continue to scout their assets before the August 1st Trade Deadline. One name to watch is Jon Gray (2FA/$5) who has posted a rough 4.83 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, but is coming off a 30.0 point outing against the Tampa Bay Rays. He gets the ball in the first game of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians, looking to increase his market value for GM Rick Steen with virtually every contender in the RDBL looking for starting pitching depth.

Important 2-Start Day for Devils

The Mt. Diablo Devils have steadily sat 200-300 points out of the final Wild Card spot, but time is running out to make a significant push. Tuesday will mark an important day in the season for GM Jason Watson with Cal Quantrill (vs.TEX) and Jameson Taillon (@MIN) on the mound. Taillon worked eight innings in his latest start, posting 40.0 points, but was on the Devils bench for the start. Back in the lineup, he will look to carry over his momentum for his recent dominant stretch where he has posted 111.0 points in his last three outings while leading the RDBL in scoring over the last 21 days.
