Period 4 continues with a full slate of Major League games on Wednesday as a tightly packed RDBL Standings situation has every club closely following the daily action.
First Team Over 1K?
The Alamo Short Stacks will attempt to be the first RDBL team to cross the 1,000 point mark on Wednesday as they send Julio Urias (@AZ) and Pablo Lopez (@WSH) to the mound following a 106.5 point day on Tuesday. The Stacks currently lead the RDBL in overall scoring with 974.0 points while pacing the league in hitting, slashing .282/.368/.469.
The Battle for the Final Wild Card Spot
The standings continue to be incredibly bunched up with the Honolulu Hammerheads sitting in the final Wild Card spot but five teams sitting within 68.5 points of that spot. Additionally, 2nd through 5th place is separated by just 19.0 points. Expect another series of changes in the standings with a full slate of games Wednesday.
'Crats Turn to Ashby
The Las Vegas Aristocrats continue to ride a wildly hot pitching staff which has already posted 111.0 points on the mound this week, allowing just four earned runs in 26.0 innings in Period 4. Aaron Ashby will look to continue that hot start to the Period in his matchup against the Pirates Wednesday afternoon. Ashby has posted a 3.18 ERA in four appearances (1 start) this season.
Taters Look to Build on Tuesday Momentum
The Idaho Taters broke out Tuesday with 96.5 points as they attempt to fight their way out of the cellar. They will hand the ball to Jordan Montgomery who has been a bright spot in their rotation with a 2.51 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over his first 14 1/3 innings this season. The offense is still looking to turn a corner, with league low marks in average (.215) and on-base percentage (.288).
Fish Getting Healthy
The Fightin' Fish saw the return of Jonathan India to the lineup Monday while Yoan Moncada is expected back early next week. In the rotation, Alex Cobb (groin) is expected to be back late next week while Luis Castillo (shoulder) will be a welcome addition back to the rotation with his timeline likely for early May. Despite the injuries, the Fish have performed exceptionally well, entering play Wednesday in 3rd place with Drew Rasmussen (vs.SEA) and Charlie Morton (vs.CHC) on the mound today.
The Real Cookie?
Carlos Carrasco has been a revelation for the Mission Viejo Maulers, posting a 1.47 ERA and 0.60 WHIP over his first 18 1/3 innings this season. He will face off against the St. Louis Cardinals as he looks to continue his hot start for the 4th place Maulers.
