On The Lookout: Wednesday, 5/12

Fish Look to Go Positive

The Spokane Fightin' Fish are off to a slow start this week (10-for-66, 6 ER in 5 1/3 IP) resulting in -2.0 points in the Period through two days. They will look for better results and have the right man on the mound as Gerrit Cole will take on the Tampa Bay Rays while Zac Gallen is at home against the Marlins.

Duel in Coors

The Alamo Short Stacks Front Office will have all eyes on the matchup between the Padres and Rockies as Yu Darvish and Jon Gray face off in Coors Field. Both were scheduled for two-start weeks entering in the Period but the postponement of Monday's game pushed each to the single start this week. The Stacks will also send Brandon Woodruff and Julio Urias to the mound in a four start day.

Goutfish Running Away?

GM Ryan Atkinson is pushing all of the right buttons as his pitching staff dominated Tuesday and expanded the club's lead over the Fightin' Fish to 122.0, the highest lead we have seen in 2021. The club will lean on their offense Wednesday without a starter scheduled.

Time is Now for Snell

The Mt. Diablo Devils are trying to build momentum as they remain within reach of the final Wild Card spot. Yusei Kikuchi was stung by his bullpen but put together a strong start Tuesday as GM Jason Watson now leans on Blake Snell to keep the train moving. Snell, a $45 investment, has been largely a disappointment so far with a 4.15 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 30 1/3 innings and just 56.0 points.

It's Always Sonny?

The Clovers pitching staff remains a work in progress with Jesus Luzardo and Mike Soroka on the shelf. That puts the pressure on outings for Sonny Gray who is fresh off a seven inning gem and has a favorable matchup against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Tucker Hot Streak

Kyle Tucker has taken well to his new club as the outfielder is now 5-for-9 with a pair of home runs, a double and a triple since being traded to the Maltese Falcons for Bryce Harper. Tucker will look to keep that hot streak alive Wednesday in a lefty vs. lefty matchup against Andrew Heaney and the Angels.
