Kikuchi Helping Devils Hang Around
The Mt. Diablo Devils have quietly pushed themselves into contention for the final Wild Card spot as they enter play Wednesday less than 200 points behind the Las Vegas Aristocrats. One key to that run has been Yusei Kikuchi who is set to oppose the Yankees Wednesday night. Kikuchi ranks 22nd in pitching points with a 3.18 ERA and 1.03 WHIP at just $3 for GM Jason Watson.
Heads Dynamic Duo
The addition of Carlos Rodon has given the Heads some impressive depth in their starting rotation which could become a powerhouse for GM Ross Horiuchi if Kenta Maeda can get back on track. The club sends their two best arms to the mound against each other Wednesday as Corbin Burnes and Jacob deGrom face off. deGrom and Burnes rank 3rd and 24th overall in pitching.
Brujan Debut for Grapes
The Grapes had a talented infielder get the call Tuesday as top prospect Vidal Brujan is set for his big league debut on Wednesday. Brujan was slashing .259/.344/.471 with 9 HR, 11 2B, 25 BB, 15 SB in 216 PAs for Triple-A Durham. He was the 24th ranked prospect in baseball, according to FanGraphs, coming into the 2021 season. With 80 or so games left, Brujan should have plenty of opportunity to play himself into activation for Opening Day of 2022 and possibly for this year's playoffs.
Clovers Look to Make Wednesday Push
The Cloverdale Clovers have held steady in a 7th place but the weeks are ticking away for them to make their push for their first playoff berth in Franchise History. The club has been crushed over the last week with bullpen meltdowns and will look for Sonny Gray to help guide the ship on Wednesday.
