On The Lookout: Wild Card Decided Wednesday?

Five days remain in the Roger Dorn Baseball League Regular Season, but Wednesday looks like it will be the most important of them all for the three Franchises battling it out for two Wild Card spots. The three teams will send eight starting pitchers to the mound, making it a make or break day for each of them.

The Meinert Hops, on GM Garrett Shelley's birthday, will send four starters to the mound with Logan Webb (@ DET), Zac Gallen (@ KC), Shane McClanahan (vs. LAA) and Cole Irvin (vs. MIA) in what look to be favorable matchups. The Hops will have Shohei Ohtani and a second start from Eric Lauer remaining on the week.

The Lake Merced Goutfish will counter with Blake Snell (vs. CLE) and George Kirby (vs. WSH). The Goutfish have posted a strong 124.5 points over two days of Period 21 and own a 2.91 Team ERA over the last 28 days.

The Burlingame Blue Ducks, currently sitting in 5th place, will send Andrew Heaney (vs. MIL) and Framber Valdez (vs. MIN) to the mound while looking to continue their hot start to the week at the plate (28-for-91, 4 2B, 4 3B, 2 HR).

Here's where things stand entering play Wednesday:

Burlingame Blue Ducks 5865.5

Lake Merced Goutfish 5846.0

Meinert Hops 5816.5

Maulers Take Control of Masters Division

The Mission Viejo Maulers posted a monster Tuesday with 128.0 overall points led by six perfect innings from Justin Verlander who suddenly is just 39.0 points behind Sandy Alcantara for the top pitcher in the RDBL. Alex Bregman continued his torrid streak with two more hits including a home run as the Maulers now lead the Spokane Fightin' Fish by 41.0 points. It will be a busy remainder of the Regular Season for both teams as the Fish have six remaining starts while the Maulers counter with five.
