With the news of Max Scherzer's oblique strain and a likely 2-month absence, the Las Vegas Aristocrats Front Office is looking to quickly pivot while also looking to strengthen what currently ranks as the league's worst offense.
According to sources, the 'Crats were heavily scouting Yu Darvish (3/$26) on Thursday as he shut out the Phillies for seven innings. Additionally, the club has expressed interest in outfielder Hunter Dozier (1/$6), Michael Brantley (2/$25) and Amed Rosario (2FA/$5).
Based on initial discussions, the Jokers appear focused on upper-Minors assets which has led to discussions on infielder Bryson Stott (Minors), catcher Shea Langeliers (Minors) and right-hander Cole Winn (Minors). Additionally, the Jokers have reportedly inquired about left-hander Aaron Ashby (1/$5) who is currently floating between the rotation and bullpen in a crowded Brewers pitching staff.
The Aristocrats entered Thursday with the league's top pitching staff, posting a 2.93 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, both the best marks in the RDBL. Unfortunately their offense shares quite different distinctions among their peers. The 'Crats have hit just .224 with a .290 on-base percentage and .343 slugging, all ranking last in the league.
