The Spokane Fightin' Fish have stepped up their pursuit of starting pitching help following the injury news to right-hander Pablo Lopez according to sources. The Fish, currently leading the Masters Division by a comfortable margin and sitting in 2nd place overall, have also lost Trevor Bauer and Tyler Glasnow in recent weeks while Zac Gallen has bounced back and forth from IL stints.
The Burlingame Blue Ducks remain the top seller of starting pitchers though the group of Jake Odorizzi, Dinelson Lamet, Matt Boyd and Mike Minor hardly represent significant upgrades. Odorizzi certainly ranks highest among the group and would be the best fit for the Fish (3.61 ERA in 47 1/3 innings).
The Fish could make a push to convince the St. Joseph Jokers to part with Kyle Gibson who owns a 2.29 ERA in 102 innings this season. If the Fish do entertain Gibson, expect GM Michael Tirabassi to try and sweeten the deal for catcher Buster Posey (1/$12) to be added as well.
To date, the Jokers and GM Rick Steen have shown no indication that they would part with either player with sources close to the club indicating Steen is focused on both players being key parts of their 2022 Roster.

- The Alamo Short Stacks made a big investment in their pursuit of a strong Playoff run only to immediately be hit with the loss of Francisco Lindor who had heated up at the plate in recent weeks. While the club isn't expected to make another major move, Lindor's absence does open up $43 in cap space which could allow the club to take on a substantial contract of a player who might have played their way out of a 2022 keeper spot on a non-contender.
- The Cloverdale Clovers cut into the Las Vegas Aristocrats lead for the final Wild Card spot and entered Saturday just 32.0 points behind. While GM Chris Shelley is expected to be active before the deadline, pitching prospect Edward Cabrera will not be moved according to sources. The Clovers consider Cabrera an untouchable part of any deal and for good reason as the upside looks to be sky-high for the right-hander. Cabrera was recently promoted to Triple-A after returning from bicep tendonitis that cost him the early portion of the season.
