Rumor Central: Market Awaits Fightin' Fish Plans

The Spokane Fightin' Fish have several RDBL Front Offices waiting on their plans as a roster overflowing with Keeper Options could certainly inject some valuable assets onto the Trade Market. Trevor Story (3/$38) has stood out as one of the top available names, but clubs are unlikely to move on the shortstop until he lands with a new big league club.

The Fightin' Fish are flush with outfielders as Adolis Garcia (2FA/$5), J.D. Martinez (2/$24), Giancarlo Stanton (2/$31), Tyler O'Neill (2R/$3) and Austin Meadows (3R/$5) all produced at a 2021 rate that garner Keeper status for this season. A change of venue has Mitch Garver's (2/$8) value rising behind the plate while a shortage of Free Agent infielders could lead to interest in David Fletcher (3/$1) or J.P. Crawford (2FA/$5).

Pitching is where things really get interesting for GM Michael Tirabassi as the $73 option for Gerrit Cole (2/$73) will be one of the major storylines to follow over the next two weeks. While Luis Castillo (3/$10) is a strong bet to return, the club will also need to work through a glut of similar options in Alex Wood (2FA/$5), Charlie Morton (2/$12), Alex Cobb (2FA/$5) and Eric Lauer (2FA/$5). The status of Trevor Bauer (3/$55) should also be clear at some point over the next two weeks. Bauer is currently projected for the second most points from a starting pitcher according to CBS.

Around the RDBL

- The Honolulu Hammerheads reportedly have a deal in hand for Willson Contreras (2/$23) according to sources but continue canvass the remainder of the RDBL before making the move.

- The one-year, $17 million deal with Clayton Kershaw (3/$31) has done little to move the needle for clubs to commit to his salary according to sources. Kershaw had a PRP injection late in 2021 and has yet to prove that he is fully healthy for 2022 and with a short Spring Training, he's unlikely to have a chance to do so before Keeper Rosters are due.

- Rumors continue to swirl on the Cincinnati Reds pitching staff, including a potential deal of Falcons right-hander Tyler Mahle (2/$8). Reds GM Nick Krall mentioned both Hunter Greene (Minors) and Nick Lodolo (Devils) as candidates for an Opening Day rotation spot.

- The Falcons are closely monitoring the Dodgers pursuit of Freddie Freeman who could dramatically alter the playing time situation for Gavin Lux (Minors). The Dodgers have also been rumored to be interested in Nelson Cruz to serve as their primary DH.
