Rumor Central: Seager Drawing Attention

The St. Joseph Jokers currently sit in 14th place which has the long list of 13 contending clubs scouring their roster for potential deals. One of the early names to get the most attention is third baseman Kyle Seager who is off to a solid start to 2021 with a .242/.306/.462 line that includes six home runs and nine doubles. (Make it seven after his homer tonight).

Seager, an off-season acquisition from the Lake Merced Goutfish, would be a welcome addition to any RDBL offensive group with offense down across baseball and every Front Office looking for a boost.

GM Rick Steen has not shown a willingness to discuss Buster Posey (1/$12) who has suddenly returned to his MVP-form in 2021. The future Hall of Famer is slashing .385/.461/.731 with eight home runs. If Posey does hit the market, he could fetch one of the larger returns we will see in 2021 based on his affordable contract and the need for production at catcher.

Additionally, Steen appears focused on retaining Kyle Gibson (1FA/$5) who is off to a stellar start to 2021 with a 2.28 ERA and 1.04 WHP over 47.0 innings. Gibson could serve as another sell-high opportunity for Steen alongside reliever Tyler Rodgers (0.87 ERA, 0.82 WHIP). Both could serve as a boost to their Minor League group that is currently anchored by JJ Bleday and DL Hall but lacks depth.

Around the RDBL

- The Spokane Fightin' Fish entered the season prepared to part with star outfield prospect Julio Rodriguez according to sources, giving GM Michael Tirabassi plenty of ammunition in trade talks this summer. The Fish sit comfortably in 2nd place entering play Wednesday.

- J.T. Realmuto (3/$30) remains the top target on the Devils roster for clubs if GM Jason Watson decides to sell by lefty Yusei Kikuchi (2R/$3) could provide a substantial return as well. Kikuchi has been up to 98 tonight in five innings of one run ball against the Dodgers so far.

- With the Maltese Falcons continuing to look at deals, the club has no plans to move outfielder Mitch Haniger according to sources. Haniger, who has homered twice already tonight and has 10 on the season, is off to a terrific start after missing all of 2020 to injury.
