The State Farm Recap has been anything but weekly, but we are back this week as the 2022 Trade and Keeper Deadline is upon us with just four periods remaining before the Playoff group is set. The group is anything but set as three teams remain within 86.0 points of each other for the Regular Season Title while the Burlingame Blue Ducks spent last week loading up in pursuit of one of the three Wild Card spots.
State Farm Team of the Week: Alamo Short Stacks, 372.5 Points
69-290, 290 AB, 12 2B, 2 3B, 10 HR, 28 RBI, 41 R, 5 SB, 38 BB, 7 HP, 2 SF
53.1 INN, 30 HA, 16 BBI, 69 K, 18 ER, 6 W, 2 L, 7 S, 2 HB
The Stacks had a balanced attack led by Brendan Rodgers (27.5 points, 12-for-27) on offense while Carlos Rodon's dominant effort Sunday night led the way with 45.0 points. The club's investment in the bullpen continues to pay dividends as Emmanuel Clase, Liam Hendriks and Kenley Jansen combined for 61.0 points and seven saves. The club enters Period 18 37.0 points behind the Maltese Falcons for the RDBL lead.
Hitter of the Week: Aaron Judge, Maulers
8-23, 23 AB, 5 HR, 10 RBI, 7 R, SB, 6 BB
Judge is in the middle of a historic season as he has taken over the lead in overall scoring after smashing five home runs in Period 17. The Maulers remain optimistic that they can chase down the top three clubs over the final four weeks and they will start that pursuit in Period 18 with 10 starts from their rotation.
Pitcher of the Week: Merrill Kelly, Devils
15 INN, 6 HA, 2 BBI, 15 K, W
Kelly is solidifying himself as one of the top pitcher values in the RDBL heading into 2023 as the right-hander posted 15 shutout innings and is now on pace for 571.0 points this season. While a lot went wrong on the Devils in 2022, Kelly is a shining bright spot.
Prospect of the Week: 3B Brett Baty, Hops
Over the last 10 days, Baty has slashed .444/.487/.833 with eight extra base hits and a pair of walks. The Hops have been asked about Baty frequently leading up to the deadline, but GM Garrett Shelley has held strong on holding him and Michael Harris as both can be big pieces of the 2023 roster.
Life Insurance Player of the Week: CJ Cron, Falcons
1-for-23, 7 K, -7.0 Points
It was a rough week at the plate for the Maltese Falcons slugger as Cron managed just one hit in 23 at-bats while punching out seven times.
