The Spokane Fightin' Fish continued to pace the Roger Dorn Baseball League but have started to face some increased pressure from other clubs as Period 3 kicks off. The club will look to stretch their lead this week with a league-high five 2-start pitchers, four of which will take the mound on Monday.
Team of the Week: Alamo Short Stacks
76-302, 302 AB, 16 2B, 3B, 19 HR, 54 RBI, 41 R, 6 SB, 33 BB, 2 CS, 3 HP, SF
47.2 INN, 44 HA, 16 BBI, 48 K, 10 ER, 4 W, L, 6 S, 2 HB
The Stacks started the week in 13th Place and finished it in 2nd, posting a league-high 369.5 points driven mainly by Seiya Suzuki, Marcell Ozuna and Manny Machado on offense while five pitchers posted week's without a run allowed.
Hitter of the Week: Jose Ramirez, Devils
11-23, 23 AB, 2 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB, CS, HP, SF
Ramirez has been a monster to start the season, ranking second in overall hitter scoring after a league-high 36.0 points in Period 2. His $47 contract certainly looks like a steal for the Mt. Diablo Devils thus far.
Pitcher of the Week: Alek Manoah, Ducks
12 INN, 5 HA, 6 BBI, 13 K, 2 ER, 2 W, HB
Andrew Heaney topped all RDBL Pitchers with 50.0 points, but was on the Jokers bench which gives the nod to Alek Manoah. The Ducks activation has come out of the gates hot and looks to be a foundational piece of the Franchise for years to come.
Life Insurance Player of the Week: Trevor Rogers, Grapes
1.2 INN, 4 HA, 4 BBI, 3 K, 7 ER, L
The Grapes rotation was set to be the staple of the club's roster in 2022, but it's been more than a shaky start. They rank last in the RDBL in ERA (5.33), WHIP (1.47) and Walks (38) while compiling a league-low 89.0 pitching points entering Monday.
Prospect of the Week: RHP Andrew Painter, Stacks
It's hard to have a better start to a season than Painter has had, punching out 16 in seven innings. He's yet to allow a run while allowing just three hits. Still just 19, Painter looks on track to finish the season in High-A which could have him on track for a 2024 debut with health.
