Period 3 is in the books as every Roger Dorn Baseball League team remains within 175 points of the Playoffs. The Alamo Short Stacks finished Period 3 in the league's top spot with the Lunatic Fringe continuing to apply significant pressure in second place while pacing the Peninsula Division lead.
Team of the Week: Alamo Short Stacks, 348.0 Points
70-266, 266 AB, 12 2B, 3 3B, 6 HR, 33 RBI, 41 R, 2 SB, 37 BB, CS, 6 HP, 4 SF
40.2 INN, 25 HA, 11 BBI, 45 K, 7 ER, 5 W, 2 L, 4 S
The Stacks posted the league's top score in back to back weeks as they surged from 14th place to 1st in that span. A steady contribution from the pitching staff including the league's top scoring arm Pablo Lopez has been matched by the league's top offense. Ty France, Seiya Suzuki, Manny Machado and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. all rank in the top nine of hitter scoring entering Period 4.
Hitter of the Week: Ty France, 40.5 Points
13-26, 26 AB, 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 7 R, 2 BB, HP
A monster week from France included a 5-hit night Saturday and 13 hits in the week as he took over the league's top spot for hitters with 73.0 points on the season. He's currently slashing .375/.460/.656 with five home runs and three doubles to pair with a 8/7 strikeout to walk ratio.
Pitcher of the Week: Frankie Montas, 54.0 Points
13.1 INN, 5 HA, 3 BBI, 13 K, 3 ER, W, L, HB
The Maulers have been one of the surprises of the early 2022 season, steadily sitting in a Playoff spot through three periods of play as they await the return of Ronald Acuna which could come in Period 5. Montas' $42 investment has been a strong one as he's currently tied for second in pitcher scoring with 75.0 points on the season with a 3.28 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in 24 2/3 innings.
Prospect of the Week: 2B Michael Busch, Hammerheads
Busch has been on fire over the last 10 days, slugging five home runs with a .333/.489/.818 line to pair with 10 walks. Currently at Double-A, the 24 year old should see a mid-season promotion to Triple-A where he could then be on the verge of a big league role. A crowded Dodgers depth chart could also make him a potential trade candidate which could increase a potential activation date.
Life Insurance Player of the Week: Dallas Keuchel, Fish, -40.0 Points
INN, 10 HA, BBI, 7 ER, L
Some disastrous defense played a key role in Keuchel's -40.0 point outing against the Cleveland Guardians Wednesday which tumbled the Fightin' Fish down the standings. GM Michael Tirabassi's team stabilized their performance late in the week and will enter Period 4 in 3rd Place.
